Application/Uses	Inhibits 3b-hydroxylation of GA20 to GA1 in gibberellin biosynthesis. The reduced level of gibberellins leads to growth retardation of plants.  Mode of action Plant growth regulator and retardant. Foliar applied and absorbed via green tissue; translocated basipetally, as well as acropetally, within plants.  Uses As an anti-lodging agent in small grain cereals (0.075-0.1 kg/ha). Also could be used as a growth retardant in turf (0.2-0.4 kg/ha), peanuts (0.1-0.3 kg/ha), flowers (0.05-0.1 kg/ha); and to inhibit new twig elongation of fruit trees (0.2-0.4 kg/ha)
Ecotoxicology	Birds Acute oral LD50 for bobwhite quail and mallard ducks >2000 mg/kg b.w. Dietary LC50 (5 d) for bobwhite quail and mallard ducks >5200 mg/kg diet.  Fish LC50 (96 h) for carp >150 ppm, rainbow trout and bluegill sunfish >100 mg/l.  Daphnia LC50 (48 h) for D. carinata >150 mg/l; EC50 for D. magna 90 ppm.  Algae EC50 (120 h) for Selenastrum capricornutum >100 mg/l. NOAEC/NOAEL for Skeletonema costatum and Selenastrum capricornutum 1.1, Anabaena flos-aquae 1.2 ppm.  Other aquatic spp. EC50 for eastern oyster 117, Lemna gibba and Navicula pelliculosa 1.2 ppm; NOAEC for mysid shrimp 125 ppm;  Bees LD50 (oral and contact) >100 mg/bee.  Worms LC50 (14 d) for Eisenia foetida >1000 mg/kg soil.
Environment Fate	Animals In rats, goats and hens, c. 90% of applied 14C was excreted in urine and faeces, primarily as the free acid.  Plants Prohexadione-calcium applied to plants is ultimately degraded to natural substances.  Soil/Environment Soil DT50 <1-4 d; Koc 82-307 ml/g.
